CurrentReport Blog Bayero University, Kano, marked a significant milestone during its 38th convocation ceremony, where 11,284 students across 18 faculties were awarded degrees. The ceremony, held on Saturday, witnessed 180 students graduating with First Class honors, reflecting the institution’s commitment to academic excellence.
In addition to undergraduate degrees, the university conferred higher degrees and postgraduate diplomas on 5,432 graduands who successfully completed their studies, further solidifying its position as a hub for advanced learning and research.
Addressing the power challenges faced by universities, Senator Tinubu highlighted ongoing collaborations between the Ministry of Power and the Ministry of Education to develop sustainable electricity solutions, particularly through compressed natural gas. Such initiatives aim to bolster research activities within universities, fostering innovation and academic advancement.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, in his congratulatory message to the graduands, emphasized their role as future leaders, urging them to leverage their degrees for societal development and progress.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Professor Sagir Abbas, proudly announced the institution’s commendable performance in the 2024 Universities Assessment ranking by Times Higher Education. Placed as the 5th best university in Nigeria overall and the 2nd best for international outlook, after Covenant University, Bayero University continues to strive for global recognition and excellence.
Professor Abbas reiterated the university’s unwavering commitment to enhancing its global visibility and maintaining high standards of quality education and research facilities. He encouraged the graduands to uphold the values of integrity and excellence, urging them to serve as exemplary ambassadors of Bayero University in their future endeavors.
