South-East: Sit-At-Home has ended – Army Chief

CURRENT REPORT BLOG the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja, announced in Abuja on Tuesday, September 12, during the COAS combined second and third quarter conference, that the sit-at-home order in the South-East has been terminated. He mentioned that their intensified efforts, particularly through Operation Udoka, in collaboration with other stakeholders, have effectively put an end to the disruptive sit-at-home directive imposed by the Indigenous People of Biafra and Eastern Security Network, which had severely impacted socio-economic activities in the region. Lagbaja emphasized that law-abiding citizens in the area can now freely engage in their daily activities.

Additionally, the army chief highlighted that joint efforts with various government agencies have successfully thwarted criminal attempts to disrupt economic activities in the South West region. On the issue of insurgency, he reported that the activities of Boko Haram and other terrorist groups have been significantly reduced.

Furthermore, Lt General Lagbaja announced the establishment of Special Forces units across the country to address security challenges. He emphasized the paramount importance of troop welfare and their families’ well-being, expressing his commitment to enhancing their living conditions. As part of this commitment, he introduced the ‘Affordable Home Ownership Option for All Soldiers Scheme’ aimed at providing affordable and high-quality post-service housing for soldiers.
