Peter Obis visit not about reconciliation – SoyinkaCURRENT REPORT BLOG Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka, has asserted that the leadership of the Labour Party (LP) was aware of Peter Obi’s loss in the February 25, 2023 election. However, they are determined to propagate ‘falsehoods,’ particularly to the Nigerian youth, insisting that Obi emerged victorious.

Soyinka made this statement on September 13th during an event held in Stellenbosch, South Africa. He pointed out that in the recent election, two significant developments occurred. Firstly, one political party took control of the labor movement, which was not his favored development, and this party became more regionally oriented. This shift marked a departure from the previous pattern of the two dominant political camps.

He went on to assert that, unequivocally, Peter Obi’s party ranked third, not even second, in the election results. According to Soyinka, the party leadership was well aware of this fact, but they are attempting to engage in what he described as ‘gbajue,’ which translates to a forceful imposition of falsehoods in Yoruba language.
