President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given his endorsement to the appointment of Shaakaa Chira as the new Auditor-General of the Federation. This appointment comes following the recommendation by the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) and was announced by the presidential spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, in an official statement on Friday, October 20. It’s important to note that President Tinubu’s authority to make this appointment is derived from Section 86 of the 1999 Constitution (Amended).
The decision to appoint Chira was the outcome of a rigorous screening process carried out by the FCSC. This process identified him as the most qualified candidate, who not only met the criteria but also scored the highest in the examination when compared to all other eligible candidates for the role. This appointment signifies a crucial step in ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation.
