CURRENT REPORT BLOG Singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, and his associate, Samson Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, have initiated a fundamental rights lawsuit contesting their ongoing detention in connection with the death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad. Both Naira Marley and Sam Larry are seeking N20 million in damages from the police and Lagos Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun, asserting that their continued detention constitutes a violation of their rights.

They have filed this suit in the Federal High Court in Lagos, naming the police and the Lagos magistrate as defendants. Despite a previous order for their detention by the magistrate for 21 days, Naira Marley and Sam Larry argue that they have been held in police custody at the Homicide Section of the Lagos State Police Command since October 4, 2023. They are requesting the court to declare their continued detention unlawful and order their immediate release.
