CURRENT REPORT BLOG The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) emphasised the significance of professionalism and adherence to the rule of law among government officials to boost Nigerians’ contribution to economic growth. During a walk in Ilorin marking the 2023 International Anti-Corruption Day, EFCC’s Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, stressed that a commitment to professionalism entails zero tolerance for arbitrariness, fostering both public and investor confidence in the nation’s economy. He underscored the EFCC’s dedication to aligning with the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) principles to combat corruption and safeguard the nation’s economic well-being. Olukoyede urged EFCC operatives to prioritize diligence, resourcefulness, and ethical practices in their duties.

Highlighting the special significance of this year’s anti-corruption event, Olukoyede expressed the EFCC’s commitment to reviewing its efforts, engaging stakeholders, and considering new perspectives to consolidate gains in the fight against economic and financial crimes. He described corruption as a threat to individual growth and national development, emphasising the global cooperation needed to combat this common ailment. The Kwara State government, aligning with the anti-corruption initiative, urged youths to participate in empowerment programs instead of engaging in cybercrime, emphasising the importance of viewing the fight against corruption as a shared responsibility.
