It has been reported that Anayo Nnebe, a member of the House of Representatives and the former Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, has passed away at the age of 61.

Sources indicate that he passed away at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital in Nnewi following a brief illness, despite the fact that his family has not officially confirmed this.

There will be a family meeting to discuss his passing before there is an official news announcement.

Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the state governor, expressed his sorrow at receiving the news of the passing of Hon. Nnebe, was a patriotic Nigerian and a distinguished son of Anambra State who served the state with honour, integrity, and quality.

“He was a visionary leader, a brilliant legislator, and a passionate advocate for the welfare and development of his people and Anambra State.

“He was a man of peace, wisdom, and compassion. His death is also a huge blow to APGA and to the entire people of Anambra State. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him”, Soludo said.

The death of the late former legislator, an Anambra State native from Umuokpu in the Awka South Local Government Area, left a gap.
