CurrentReport Blog In response to a concerning surge in theft incidents, Federal University Dutse in Jigawa State has taken decisive action by engaging vigilantes and hunters to enhance security on its campus. The announcement came from the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Muhammad, during a pre-convocation press briefing.
Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Muhammad highlighted the university’s challenges, which include a noticeable increase in theft cases involving office equipment, stationery, electrical devices, water pumps, submersibles, portable generators, and diesel. Expressing disappointment over the situation, he emphasized the need for immediate measures to address these security concerns.
“To curb these cases of theft and improve the general security on the campus, we have increased our partnership with security agencies while hiring the services of vigilantes and hunters to beef up security on campus,” Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Muhammad stated.
Furthermore, the Vice Chancellor acknowledged another pressing issue faced by the university—the persistent destruction of its perimeter fence by the neighboring community. This ongoing challenge has led to illegal trespassing by both people and animals, posing additional security risks.
In light of these developments, Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Muhammad urged students and staff to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly. He stressed the importance of fostering a collective effort to maintain a secure campus environment amidst these challenges.
