CurrentReport Blog Former Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, renowned as one of the nation’s finest goalkeepers, has revealed his eagerness to rejoin the national team fold if given the opportunity.
Enyeama, who amassed 101 appearances for the Super Eagles, left the team in 2015 following a dispute with former head coach Sunday Oliseh.
However, in a recent interview, the 41-year-old expressed his willingness to contribute to the team’s success, stating, “Becoming a goalkeeper coach, first of all, I’m not yet certified.
If they want me to be like Zidane, who was not yet certified, but Real Madrid had faith in him, it can happen.”
“I don’t have a problem if they wake up tomorrow and say, Vincent, come and be part of the setup- I will gladly do it. I can never say no to my country, I have always said that.
“I can never say no to Nigeria. I will bring my experience over the years in Europe, and we will do it. But they have to call me first” he said.
Enyeama’s statement signifies his passion for serving Nigerian football, potentially in a coaching capacity akin to legendary figures like Zinedine Zidane.
Despite his retirement over six years ago, Enyeama’s enduring legacy and commitment to Nigerian football continue to resonate with fans and stakeholders alike.
