United States Condemns Abduction of School Children and IDPs in Nigeria

CurrentReport Blog The United States has voiced its condemnation over the harrowing abduction of school children in Kaduna State and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Borno State, Nigeria. Reports indicate that approximately 200 IDPs, predominantly comprising women, boys, and girls, were kidnapped by suspected terrorists while gathering firewood in Gomboru-Ngala and Dikwa council areas.

The official X page of the US Mission in Nigeria underscored the gravity of the situation, urging the Nigerian government to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators and ensure they are held accountable for their actions. Expressing solidarity with the affected families, the United States emphasized the imperative of justice and the urgent and safe return of all those taken captive.

In a statement, the US Mission in Nigeria stated, “Our hearts go out to the victims’ families. We stand with you in demanding the perpetrators face justice and the immediate, safe return of all taken. We support Nigeria’s efforts to secure their release.”
