Yobe State Governor Grants Pardon to 33 Inmates During Ramadan

Alhassan Sule Mamudo, the Information Officer of the Yobe State Ministry of Justice, confirmed this development in a statement released on Wednesday in Damaturu.

The decision to grant pardon to the inmates stemmed from the recommendations put forth by theGovernor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has extended clemency to 33 inmates. The council meticulously assessed cases across correctional facilities in Potiskum, Nguru, and Gashu’a before compiling a list of deserving individuals for consideration.

Barrister Saleh Samanja emphasized the meticulous nature of the council’s deliberations, ensuring that only those deemed fit for clemency were included in the final list presented to Governor Mai Mala Buni. The governor, in his magnanimity, graciously accepted and approved the release of the selected inmates, granting them the opportunity to reintegrate into society.

Furthermore, Governor Mai Mala Buni’s commitment to fostering a spirit of compassion during Ramadan extended beyond pardons. On the eve of the holy month, he authorized the distribution of food palliatives to all correctional facilities across Yobe State. This initiative aimed to ensure that inmates could also partake in the blessings of the Ramadan season, fostering a sense of unity and solidarity within the community.
