Addressing the gathering in Abuja, she cautioned against using the downturn in the economy as an excuse for criminal activities.
Dr. Ibrahim highlighted that the economic downturn is not unique to Nigeria but rather a global issue. She stressed the need for youths to remain focused and channel their energies towards constructive endeavors despite the economic challenges. Encouraging them to prepare themselves socially and economically, she underscored the importance of being proactive in navigating the turbulent economic landscape.
Acknowledging the role of organizations like the Peace Corps of Nigeria in youth development, Dr. Ibrahim assured continued support from the Ministry of Youth Development. She called upon all Nigerians to advocate for peace, emphasizing its indispensable role in fostering national development.
Furthermore, the Minister echoed the sentiments of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agenda for national renewal, urging collective efforts towards achieving this vision. She emphasized the necessity for collaboration and unity among all stakeholders in steering Nigeria towards progress.
The National Commandant of the Peace Corps of Nigeria, Dr. Dickson Ameh Akoh, echoed similar sentiments, calling on the federal government to create opportunities for youth empowerment and contribution to national development. He emphasized the significance of the Nigeria Peace Corps Establishment Bill in providing a framework for youth engagement and urged President Tinubu to support its passage into law.
Umaru Bayero, the District Head of Gwarinpa, echoed the call for swift legislative action on the Nigeria Peace Corps Bill, emphasizing its potential to elevate the Peace Corps of Nigeria to a statutory body with a mandate to enhance youth participation in nation-building.
