CURRENT REPORT BLOG: the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has given the Tinubu-led Federal Government a strict 72-hour ultimatum to apprehend former Niger Delta agitator, Mujahid Asari-Dokubo. HURIWA has expressed its intention to organize nationwide protests if the government fails to comply with their demands.
The statement, released by HURIWA’s National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, emphasizes the urgent need for the Department of State Services (DSS) or any other relevant security agency to arrest Asari-Dokubo. The association alleges his possible involvement with the “unknown gunmen” menace in the South-East region.
HURIWA is firm in its stance that the Nigerian Government must take immediate action by arresting Asari Dokubo. Failure to do so will indirectly push Igbo youths, Igbo sympathizers, and other groups supporting the well-being of the Igbo people to initiate peaceful protests nationwide.
This ultimatum highlights the mounting concerns regarding security issues and the need for the government to address them promptly. HURIWA stands firm in its mission to protect human rights and ensure the safety of all Nigerians, and they urge the government to take decisive action to maintain peace and security in the country.
The coming days will be crucial in determining the government’s response and the subsequent actions that HURIWA and its supporters will take. The nation watches as events unfold, with the hope that justice will prevail and peace will be restored to the affected regions.
Stay tuned for further updates on this matter as it unfolds.
