This crucial gathering, organized by Nigeria with the support of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), aims to strengthen regional cooperation and institutional frameworks to confront the evolving threat of terrorism across the continent.
Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, announced the summit’s objectives, emphasizing its focus on fostering African-led solutions and enhancing multilateral cooperation. Under the theme, ‘Strengthening Regional Cooperation and Institution Building to Address the Evolving Threat of Terrorism,’ the summit will convene from April 22 to April 23, drawing high-level participation from heads of state, government officials, international organizations, and civil society groups.
The summit provides a vital platform to assess the current landscape of terrorism in Africa and devise strategic priorities and measures to combat this menace effectively. By promoting deeper regional collaboration and facilitating the exchange of best practices, the event seeks to enhance the institutional capacity of member states and reshape the international community’s collective response to terrorism in Africa.
