Kebbi State Government Releases N309.5 Million for Foreign Scholarships

CurrentReport Blog In a significant move towards supporting education, the Kebbi State government has disbursed N309.5 million for the payment of foreign scholarships to 86 indigenes studying in India and Egypt. This announcement was made by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Alhaji Isah Abubakar-Tunga, during a briefing in Birnin Kebbi.

Governor Nasir Idris’s approval of N228.1 million for 63 students in India and N81.4 million for 23 students in Egypt demonstrates the government’s commitment to investing in the education of its citizens abroad. Abubakar-Tunga emphasized that the remaining 50 foreign students would have their expenses settled promptly, underscoring the government’s dedication to ensuring timely support for all scholars.

This initiative follows the governor’s earlier decision in February 2024 to approve scholarship payments for Kebbi State students studying in 36 tertiary institutions across Nigeria, showcasing a comprehensive approach to education funding.

The Ministry for Higher Education expressed gratitude for Governor Nasir Idris’s unwavering support and commendable efforts in advancing the higher education sector.
