New Book Launch Highlights Importance of Fire Safety Compliance in Lagos

CurrentReport Blog In a bid to address the critical need for fire prevention and building code compliance, a groundbreaking new book titled “Introduction to Fire Protection and Management: A Practical Approach to Prevention and Management” has been launched in Lagos. Co-authored by Certified Health, Safety, and Environment expert Dr. Adedoyin Lasisi and his wife, Certified Fire and Safety Professional Mrs. Adenike Lasisi, the book aims to equip individuals and professionals with essential knowledge and practical insights into fire safety.

The launch event, held at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce And Industry (LCCI) Conference and Exhibition Centre in Ikeja, Lagos, was presided over by Dr. Omobolaji Gaji, Permanent Secretary of the Office of Drainage Services, Ministry of Environment. Dr. Gaji emphasized the timeliness of the book, particularly in the face of increasing climate change-induced disasters and environmental infractions.

Renowned Fire Engineer Mr. Jumade Adejola underscored the importance of fire prevention in homes and offices, highlighting the crucial role of separating fuel, oxygen, and heat to prevent fire disasters. He stressed the necessity of installing extinguishers and adopting proactive measures to mitigate fire risks, citing recent incidents such as the Dosunmu Market fire in Lagos.

Master Warrant Officer Akintunde Agunbiade of the Nigerian Army emphasized the need for multi-agency collaboration in fire disaster management in Lagos State. He outlined the benefits of collaboration, including improved emergency response, coordination, and public trust in government efforts.

Speaking on behalf of the authors, Dr. Adedoyin Lasisi emphasized the book’s objective of providing a comprehensive guide for citizens to protect themselves, their families, and their property. He highlighted the importance of equipping individuals with the necessary tools and information to respond effectively to fire emergencies, thereby minimizing losses and ensuring safety.
