CurrentReport Blog Edison Ehie, the Chief of Staff (CoS) to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, recently made startling claims of being offered money to orchestrate the impeachment of the incumbent governor. Speaking in the Ahoada East area of Rivers State, Ehie asserted his refusal to succumb to the alleged bribery attempts, shedding light on a murky political landscape.

Ehie’s revelation unveils a sinister plot aimed at undermining the state’s governance. He recounted being approached with financial incentives to spearhead Governor Fubara’s impeachment, a proposition he vehemently rejected. “They invited me, your son, to impeach the governor and I told them clearly, I was not interested,” Ehie disclosed. Despite the allure of substantial monetary inducements, Ehie remained resolute in his loyalty to Governor Fubara, refusing to be swayed by corruption.

This recent revelation adds another layer of complexity to the political landscape of Rivers State. Recall that in 2023, Ehie was declared wanted by the police in connection with the invasion of the State House of Assembly.
The turmoil escalated when an explosion rocked the state assembly building in October 2023, amidst reports of lawmakers attempting to impeach Governor Fubara. The Martin Amaewhule-led lawmakers lodged criminal complaints against Ehie, implicating him in the invasion and arson of the Rivers State House of Assembly chambers by unidentified hoodlums.
