Electrocuted While Vandalizing Transformer Near JAMB Centre in Otukpo

CurrentReport Blog In a shocking incident, an unidentified young man met a tragic end after being electrocuted while attempting to vandalize a transformer near the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) centre in Otukpo. The town, which serves as the headquarters of the Otukpo Local Government Area, was thrown into disarray following the discovery of the lifeless body.

The incident unfolded late Friday night when the suspect, believed to be attempting to steal parts from the transformer, was suddenly caught in a fatal electric current. Sources revealed that the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) restored power to the area just as the man was tampering with the high-tension pole.

By Saturday morning, the gruesome scene attracted a large crowd of passersby, who found the man’s body hanging from the pole. Tools presumed to be used for the act were still in his possession.

A local resident, who witnessed the aftermath, stated, “We came this morning and found the body suspended from the electric pole at a transformer with tools in his hand.”

Authorities were on the scene and electricity distribution officials worked to safely retrieve the deceased from the pole. As of the time of this report, the man’s identity remains unknown, and investigations are ongoing to understand the full circumstances leading to this fatal incident.
