CurrentReport Blog In a fervent call to action during his Juma’at sermon at the Nasara Cinema Juma’at Mosque on Friday, Chief Imam Kashim Imam urged President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to prioritize the welfare of Nigerians amid the country’s ongoing economic challenges.
Speaking to a large congregation, Imam highlighted the severe impact of the economic crisis on ordinary Nigerians, noting the widespread inability to afford basic necessities. He pointed out the alarming increase in hunger, unemployment, and homelessness, attributing these issues to the broader economic conditions that have deteriorated in recent times.
“The economic hardship has left many Nigerians unable to afford basic necessities, with millions going to bed hungry and many more facing unemployment and homelessness,” Imam expressed with deep concern. He condemned the government’s extravagant spending, citing examples of significant resources being allocated to luxury items such as SUVs for officials and unnecessary foreign trips.
Imam emphasized the need for President Tinubu to lead inclusive discussions with political stakeholders to develop practical solutions to the country’s economic woes. He also called on lawmakers to be more responsive to the needs of their constituents, especially during these challenging times, and urged state governors to implement policies that prioritize the well-being of their citizens.
“I urge the president to consider implementing a living wage for civil servants, pensioners, and unemployed individuals across our nation. Leaders must uphold justice and be accountable to the people,” Imam added, reinforcing the necessity for a government that is attuned to the needs of its people.
Moreover, Imam encouraged Nigerians to vote conscientiously in elections, emphasizing the importance of choosing leaders who are genuinely committed to addressing the issues facing the populace.
