CurrentReport Blog The Niger State Police Command has called on the Chanchaga local council and relevant stakeholders to proactively address the escalating issue of youth restiveness in the Minna metropolis.
Commissioner of Police Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman made this appeal during a recent visit to Chanchaga LG Chairman Aminu Y. Ladan and council cabinet members. The visit followed his tour of area commands across the state, highlighting a growing concern over youth-related disturbances.
Danmamman emphasized the need for a concerted effort to eliminate hard drugs from Minna, aiming to transform the city into a drug-free zone. He praised Chairman Ladan for his commitment to collaborating with security agencies in tackling societal miscreants, while stressing the importance of collective support.
“With the positions held by councillors and directors in the Council, intelligence will naturally flow their way. We urge you to forward such information to the police and other security agencies for swift intervention,” Danmamman said. “Be vigilant, be proactive, and cooperate with security agencies.”
He also called on parents and religious leaders to actively speak against social vices such as youth brigandage, thuggery, and robberies. Danmamman encouraged the submission of miscreants to the police for appropriate legal action, underscoring that no single institution can address these challenges in isolation.
In response, Chanchaga LG Council Chairman Ladan affirmed the council’s collaboration with traditional institutions to identify and eject troublesome families from communities. He also urged community members to be prepared to testify against criminals in court for effective prosecution.
Ladan identified late-night gatherings, particularly at marriage ceremonies, as a security concern. He announced the council’s resolution that all events should conclude by 6 pm to prevent security breaches.
