Governor Douye Diri Warns Bayelsa State Cabinet Against Underperformance

The warning was delivered during the 130th session of the State Executive Council, held at Government House in Yenagoa.

Governor Diri urged his cabinet to align with his administration’s vision of providing exceptional service to the people of Bayelsa State. Highlighting the positive impact of his administration’s policies and programs, Diri called on the newly appointed cabinet members to prioritize service to the state.

Emphasis on Developmental Projects and Public Appreciation

In his address, Governor Diri expressed his delight over the public’s appreciation for the developmental projects underway in the state. He pointed to several key projects as evidence of his administration’s commitment to progress:

  • Ongoing Construction of the Nembe-Brass Road: A crucial infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity within the state.
  • Completed Sagbama-Ekeremor Road: Another significant development enhancing transportation and access.
  • Building and Equipping Science, Technical, and Vocational Schools: Part of the administration’s focus on improving education and vocational training across Bayelsa.

The governor highlighted that these initiatives, along with other projects in various sectors, have garnered accolades from Bayelsans, reinforcing the administration’s positive impact.

Call for Teamwork and Integrity

Governor Diri stressed the importance of teamwork and integrity among the new commissioners, noting that they were selected based on their distinguished backgrounds and capabilities. “You have joined this executive council at a moment so much is expected of us. You are our eyes and ears in the ministries,” Governor Diri stated. “Any member of the state executive council that does not work in tandem with the policies and vision of this government, we will wield the big stick. You are all men of integrity as you were carefully chosen and we believe that you will perform well.”
