CurrentReport Blog A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Chief Sunny Onuesoke, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and Dangote Refinery to agree on a unified price for petroleum products. Onuesoke also urged that independent marketers be allowed to purchase fuel directly from Dangote Refinery.

In a conversation with our correspondent in Warri, Chief Onuesoke raised concerns about alleged backdoor dealings between the parties involved in the pricing negotiations. He expressed his dissatisfaction with what he described as “sinister intentions,” suggesting that these behind-the-scenes arrangements are deliberately maintaining the high cost of petrol, to the detriment of Nigerians.

“If you look at the whole shenanigans, you would see some sort of backdoor arrangement on the part of the parties involved in the entire process, who in a sinister intention are making sure Nigerians continue to suffer the plight of high-price PMS, which has resulted in so much suffering for the people,” Onuesoke stated.

Onuesoke’s comments come amidst widespread frustration over the high cost of petrol, which has led to increased economic hardship for Nigerians. He stressed that if independent marketers are allowed access to purchase petroleum products directly from Dangote Refinery at an agreed price, it could help alleviate the burden on citizens.

The PDP chieftain’s call for transparency and fairness in the pricing of petroleum products reflects growing concerns across the country about the rising cost of living and the need for swift government intervention.
