In a weather outlook released on Monday in Abuja, NiMet warned of potential urban flooding and advised the public to remain vigilant and adhere to safety precautions.
Tuesday Weather Forecast
NiMet predicts morning thunderstorms in the northern states of Bauchi, Kebbi, Taraba, Kano, Katsina, Adamawa, and Kaduna. As the day progresses, thunderstorms are expected to spread across the entire northern region.
In the North Central region, states like Kogi, Benue, Plateau, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nasarawa, and Niger will experience thunderstorms in the morning, with these conditions extending into the afternoon over areas such as Kwara, Benue, and Nasarawa.
In the southern region, moderate rains are expected in parts of Ebonyi, Imo, Enugu, Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Cross River, and Rivers in the morning, followed by intermittent rains later in the day.
Wednesday Weather Outlook
For Wednesday, NiMet forecasts early morning thunderstorms over Taraba, Adamawa, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, and Kaduna. Later in the day, parts of Borno, Gombe, Adamawa, and Taraba will also experience thunderstorms.
In the North Central region, early thunderstorms will affect parts of FCT, Kogi, Niger, and Kwara, with additional storms later affecting Nasarawa and Kwara states.
In the South, thunderstorms are predicted over Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Enugu, and other southern states in the morning, continuing through the afternoon and evening.
Thursday Weather Predictions
Thursday’s forecast indicates thunderstorms over Sokoto, Kebbi, Taraba, and Adamawa in the morning, extending to Borno, Bauchi, Kaduna, and other northern states later in the day.
In the South, isolated thunderstorms are expected in states such as Osun, Edo, Ondo, Ekiti, Delta, Lagos, Rivers, and Bayelsa during the morning.

NiMet has urged residents, particularly in flood-prone areas, to take precautions against potential flooding due to heavy rainfall. The agency also warned that strong winds might precede thunderstorms, increasing the risk of damage.
