CurrentReport Blog The Adamawa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly condemned the official results of the recently concluded governorship election in Edo State, calling it “daylight robbery.”
During a press briefing in Yola on Tuesday, the Adamawa State Chairman of the PDP, Ahmed Shehu, urged the national leadership of the party and the PDP in Edo State to pursue legal action swiftly. Shehu asserted that the state chapter fully supports PDP National Chairman Umar Damagum and other party leaders, who have raised concerns over the credibility of the election results.
Shehu further emphasized the state chapter’s backing of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, chairman of the Edo PDP National Campaign Council, who reported that the PDP candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, secured the highest number of votes in the election.
“We abhor the desperation of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which employed all lethal means, including violent manipulation to subvert the wishes of the generality of Edo people,” Shehu stated.
He warned that the alleged manipulation by the APC not only undermines Nigeria’s democracy but could also worsen the country’s growing political apathy.
“We wish to state that we are solidly behind our national party leadership in taking any legal measures to ensure that the stolen mandate in Edo State is retrieved,” Shehu added.
The Adamawa PDP called for immediate legal redress to restore what they believe is the rightful outcome of the election.
