Jagun Jagun made waves by securing nominations in several major categories of the 20th edition of the prestigious awards. The film is in the running for:
- Best Actor in a Supporting Role
- Achievement in Production Design
- Achievement in Costume Design
- Achievement in Makeup
- Achievement in Visual Effects
- The Ousmane Sembene Award for Best Film in an African Language
- NFVCB Award for Best Nigerian Film
The film’s creator and lead actor, Femi Adebayo, took to Instagram to celebrate the news, writing, “Hey guys, we have done it again! Delighted to announce that Jagun Jagun clinched seven nominations at the 2024 AMAA AWARDS nominee announcement yesterday.”
The announcement event attracted numerous film industry heavyweights, including Shaibu Husseini, Director General of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), as well as George, Chinyere, Kennedy, and Raymond Anyiam-Osigwe, and veteran actors like Segun Arinze, Nobert Young, and Charles Novia.
Jagun Jagun, a Yoruba-language film, has been widely praised for its stunning visuals, intricate costume designs, and powerful performances. These nominations position it as a leading contender at the AMAA, one of Africa’s most esteemed film award events.
