CurrentReport Blog A 25-year-old woman has been killed and 10 others injured following a shooting incident at the central bus station in Beersheba, southern Israel. Local authorities have confirmed the suspected gunman was shot dead by police at the scene, with the attack being treated as a “suspected terror attack.”
Footage circulating online appeared to show several victims inside a nearby McDonald’s, adding to the chaos of the incident. Israel’s ambulance service reported that 10 people are currently being treated for injuries, including gunshot wounds. Among the injured, one woman is in “moderate to serious” condition, while four others are in “moderate” condition. All of the injured have been transported to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba for treatment.
Following the attack, Israel’s transport minister, Miri Regev, called for harsher measures, including the deportation of terrorists’ families, as a deterrent to further violence. “The time has come for a deterrent punishment to prevent the attacks on Israeli territory,” Regev wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
This tragic incident comes less than a week after another attack in Tel Aviv, where seven people were killed in a shooting and knife assault. Israeli authorities remain on high alert as the first anniversary of Hamas’s October 7 attack on southern Israel approaches, a date that marked the beginning of the ongoing Gaza conflict.
The situation remains tense as Israeli security forces work to prevent further attacks amid rising concerns over regional security.
