Kano Court Orders Remand of 43-Year-Old Man for Alleged Rape and Murder of Minor

CurrentReport Blog A Kano State High Court has ordered the remand of Mannir Ibrahim-Abdullahi, a 43-year-old man accused of raping a minor to death, in a correctional facility. Justice Zuwaira Yusuf issued the order on Monday and adjourned the case until December 9 for a hearing.

The defendant, Ibrahim-Abdullahi, who resides in Jaba Quarters, Kano, faces charges of culpable homicide and rape brought by the Kano State Government. The prosecution, led by Lamido Abba-Sorondinki, alleges that the incident occurred on August 1 at Jaba Panisau Quarters. According to the prosecutor, the victim’s father took the minor to Waraka Chemist, a clinic owned by the defendant, for malaria treatment, where the alleged crime took place.

Ibrahim-Abdullahi pleaded not guilty to the charges. The prosecution stated that the alleged offense contravenes Sections 221 and 283 of the Penal Code.
