CurrentReport Blog The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State has refuted reports of an alleged recall attempt against Senator Shehu Buba Umar, who represents the Bauchi South Senatorial District. The party dismissed the claims as baseless and politically motivated.

APC Defends Senator Shehu Buba
Speaking to journalists on Saturday, the APC Vice Chairman for Bauchi South, Abdulmumini Kundak, expressed disbelief over the reported recall move, describing it as a smear campaign orchestrated by “unscrupulous politicians.”

He praised Senator Buba’s transformative leadership, highlighting his achievements in advancing the district’s development and consolidating President Bola Tinubu’s agenda. Kundak urged those behind the recall effort to present their grievances openly rather than resorting to misinformation.

“Baseless Allegations” of Banditry
Kundak also dismissed allegations linking the senator to banditry, urging the public to ignore the claims. He described the accusations as unfounded and aimed at tarnishing the senator’s reputation.

“We commend the people of Bauchi South for recognizing Senator Buba’s impactful projects and supporting his leadership, which has gained the approval of security institutions,” Kundak stated.

Political Rift With Governor Bala Mohammed
The recall attempt is believed to stem from a growing rift between Senator Buba and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Governor Mohammed recently sparked controversy during the PDP’s local government election campaign when he claimed President Tinubu’s policies would make him a campaign director for the PDP in 2027. The remarks drew sharp criticism from Senator Buba and the APC.

In response to the senator’s comments, the Bauchi Emirate Council revoked his traditional title of ‘Majidadin Bauchi,’ citing alleged disrespect toward the governor.

Allegations of Banditry Spark Further Tensions
Governor Mohammed has reportedly petitioned President Tinubu, accusing Senator Buba of supporting banditry, further straining their relationship.

APC Calls for Unity and Support
The APC leadership has called on the public to reject the recall attempt and continue supporting Senator Shehu Buba’s efforts to develop Bauchi South and implement President Tinubu’s agenda.

The party described the senator as a leader committed to the progress of his constituents, urging citizens to differentiate between genuine leadership and political propaganda.
