CurrentReport Blog The residents of Madagali Local Government Area in Adamawa State have formally requested Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to establish a first-class monarchy, to be known as the Madagali Chiefdom.
The request was presented on Monday, November 25, 2024, during a courtesy visit to the governor at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Yola. A delegation led by former Adamawa State Governor, Bala Ngillari, submitted a memorandum outlining their collective desire for the creation of the chiefdom.
Ngillari explained that the proposed Madagali Chiefdom would have its headquarters in Guluk, which currently serves as the administrative center of Madagali LGA. He emphasized that the demand was a reflection of the people’s unity and aspirations.
In response, Governor Fintiri, who hails from Madagali LGA, expressed gratitude for the visit and promised to consider the request on its merit. He assured the delegation that his administration remains committed to promoting inclusive governance and addressing the needs of all Adamawa residents.
“We will continue to work in the best interest of the people, ensuring no one is left behind in the state’s developmental agenda,” Fintiri stated.
The establishment of a first-class chiefdom in Madagali, if approved, is expected to boost cultural preservation and provide a framework for enhanced traditional governance in the area.
