Governor Monday Okpebholo Slams Opponents Over Rigging Allegations, Celebrates Victory with Esan People

The governor made these remarks on Saturday during a homecoming reception held at the Esan Central Local Government Council Secretariat to celebrate his victory with the Esan people.

Governor Okpebholo’s Response to Allegations

In his address, Governor Okpebholo thanked the people of Edo State for their overwhelming support and accused his opponents of fabricating election results.

“The people that wrote results and were announcing fake results on the internet are the same people crying today that somebody rigged the election. Their rigging strategies failed, and they will continue to lose,” he said.

He also expressed gratitude to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu for ensuring a fair and just election process, which contributed to his party’s victory.

Traditional Rulers Back Governor Okpebholo

Speaking at the event, the Onojie of Uromi, His Royal Highness Anselm Aidenojie II, praised the people of Esan for supporting their son to become governor. He revealed that Esan traditional rulers campaigned across the state to secure support for Governor Okpebholo’s candidacy.

“We are happy that the son of Esanland is now the governor of Edo State. We believe he will deliver the dividends of democracy to the people,” the monarch said.

He also acknowledged the support of the Oba of Benin Kingdom, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare II, for making the dream a reality.

A Call for Unity and Progress

The homecoming event underscored Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to unity and development in Edo State. He reassured citizens that his administration would focus on delivering democratic dividends and fostering progress across the state.
