CurrentReport Blog Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has accused political adversaries of targeting his allies, including traditional rulers and key government officials, in an effort to undermine his administration. The governor made these claims on Friday during the commissioning of the remodeled Government Girls’ Secondary School in Ahoada East Local Government Area.
Governor Fubara alleged that His Royal Majesty, Eze Ekpeye Logbo Kevin Anugbom, and High Chief Cassid Ikebidi were unjustly arrested and detained for four months due to their support for his administration. He also accused the Nigerian Police Force of declaring his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, wanted as part of a strategy to diminish his influence as governor.
Fubara urged residents of Rivers State to pray for his administration and for the funds necessary to complete ongoing projects, assuring them of his unwavering commitment to governance despite the challenges.
In recognition of sacrifices made by Eze Ekpeye Logbo and other leaders, the governor announced plans to upgrade traditional stools in the region. Addressing local infrastructure, Fubara revealed that the contract for internal roads in Ahoada East would be cancelled and re-awarded to ensure proper execution.
He expressed gratitude to the people of Ahoada East for their steadfast support while cautioning them to avoid actions that could provoke hostility from political opponents.
The arrests of Eze Ekpeye Logbo and High Chief Cassid Ikebidi followed the murder of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ahoada East, SP Bako Angbashim, in September 2023. Similarly, Edison Ehie was declared wanted by the Police in connection with the explosion that occurred at the Rivers State House of Assembly on October 29, 2023.
