CurrentReport Blog Howard Webb, the PGMOL’s manager, acknowledged that Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City ought to have been sent off for fouling Cole Palmer. Only a strong tackle on Palmer during their Premier League match last month earned Ndidi a yellow card. VAR looked into the incident, but they decided to follow referee Andrew Madley’s on-field decision. Webb acknowledged that Ndidi was lucky to avoid being fired, though. We’ve discussed this with the officials and taken a collective look at it; we would rather see this result in a red card. “Player safety must be protected,” Webb stated. Palmer did not sustain any significant injuries during Chelsea’s 2-1 victory at King Power Stadium.
