CurrentReport Blog The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Nze Ozichukwu Fidelis Chukwu, has reiterated the call for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). In a statement issued by Ohanaeze’s spokesperson, Alex Ogbonnia, Chukwu described Kanu’s continued detention by Nigerian authorities as unjustifiable.
“The release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a moral burden on the federal government,” Chukwu declared. “There is no sufficient reason for the prolonged detention of Kanu by the security agency of the state.”
Chukwu highlighted the importance of addressing this issue as part of Ohanaeze’s broader commitment to justice and the well-being of the Igbo people. He assured the National Executive Committee (NEC) that a comprehensive blueprint would soon be developed to enhance the organization’s effectiveness in tackling challenges and supporting government goodwill initiatives.
Reflecting on his tenure, Chukwu expressed determination to leave a legacy of impactful leadership. “Although my days in office are numbered, I remain committed to ensuring Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide continues to uphold its mandate and achieve lasting results,” he stated.
Ohanaeze’s renewed call for Kanu’s release aligns with the sentiments of many Igbo leaders and organizations advocating for justice and dialogue as pathways to resolving regional tensions.
