CurrentReport Blog Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has shared his perspective on why many women remain unmarried in their 30s. According to him, the choices made during their younger years play a significant role in their singleness later in life.
Speaking in a recent interview with News Central, the acclaimed actor highlighted how some young women prioritize relationships with wealthy, often married older men over potential younger suitors.
Kanayo’s Viewpoint on Relationship Choices
Kanayo explained, “A girl in the university at 18, 19, or 20 starts dating a very rich guy, sometimes very old. Because the guy is wealthy and married, she rejects younger, prospective husbands. The allure of material gifts like cars and houses keeps her invested in such relationships.”
He added that as these women age, they often miss opportunities for marriage with younger men, leading to challenges finding a spouse in their 30s. “At 23, she’s a flex. At 28, she becomes a prayer point. After 33, she’s in a state of emergency,” Kanayo remarked.
A Thought-Provoking Perspective
Kanayo’s comments have sparked discussions on societal expectations and the pressures women face regarding marriage. While some agree with his viewpoint, others argue that the issue is more complex, involving factors like personal choices, career priorities, and societal standards.
This conversation adds to the broader debate about relationships, marriage, and gender dynamics in contemporary African society.
