According to a report by ESET TV, former Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has issued a harsh warning about the possibility of unrest in the event that the impeachment of his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, is pursued. In the course of explaining his opinions on the political climate in the state, Wike examined the many forms of threats that have surfaced as a result of Fubara’s legal and political challenges.

As Wike emphasized, “Know ourselves,” he expressed his dissatisfaction with what he perceives to be escalating differences of opinion. “You appoint individuals in the NDDC who subsequently threaten to detonate pipelines.” In this location, appointments are scheduled, and there are also threats to blow up pipelines. The question that he posed was, “What kind of nation are we in?”

Pipeline sabotage is a frequent tactic of protest or rebellion in specific regions of the Niger Delta, and the mention of pipeline sabotage serves as a stinging reminder of the region’s ongoing issues with attacks on oil infrastructure. As part of his remarks, Wike also addressed the wider implications that such threats could have. Considering that you are the current president, you threaten me by saying that I would retaliate violently if you continue to follow the decision of the court. The entire location should be detonated. He continued to insist, “Sufficient is sufficient,” highlighting his willingness to maintain his unwavering stance till the end.

In his remarks, he stated that the political climate has reached a critical point, which means that there is no room for any threats or intimidation to take place. Wike’s outburst has sparked a discussion about the turbulent nature of Nigerian politics, particularly in the oil-rich Niger Delta region, where disagreements between political leaders frequently have substantial repercussions for the state’s security and stability. Wike’s outburst has sparked this discussion.
