Nigerian music powerhouses continued their global dominance as they stole the spotlight at the 2025 Africa Arts Entertainment Awards (AAEA), winning big in multiple top categories.

The winners were officially announced by the AAEA via their social media platforms, with Nigerian artists leading the pack and reaffirming their influence on the continent and beyond.

Wizkid took home the Best Afro-R&B award for his soulful collaboration “Piece of My Heart” with American singer Brent Faiyaz.

Davido and Chris Brown won Best Global Collaboration for their chart-topping hit “Hmm”, further highlighting the global reach of Afrobeats.

Asake also enjoyed success as his song “MMS” featuring Wizkid won Best Afro-Native, showcasing the growing appeal of traditional-infused sounds.

Burna Boy was crowned Overall Male Artist in Africa, a testament to his consistency and massive impact on African music over the years.

Tems was recognized as Best Global African Female Artiste, solidifying her status as one of the continent’s most globally respected voices.

  • South Africa’s rising star Tyla won Overall Female Artist in Africa and Best Female Artist, Southern Africa.
