CurrentReport Blog The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has voiced strong support for the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara, following President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a six-month suspension and imposition of a state of emergency in the state.
The Forum, led by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, issued a communiqué after a crucial meeting held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Monday. In their statement, the governors emphasized unwavering solidarity with Governor Fubara, declaring:
“We restate our commitment to stand with him (Fubara) until the end amid the challenges posed by the declaration of a state of emergency in his state.”
President Tinubu’s decision to suspend Governor Fubara and appoint retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas as the Sole Administrator of Rivers State has sparked significant political debate across the nation.
Beyond the Rivers State crisis, the PDP governors also raised concerns over the escalating insecurity in parts of the country, including Borno, Katsina, and Edo states.
“The Forum finds alarming the worsening security situation in the country,” the communiqué stated, urging a “review and reorientation of priorities and strategies” and advocating a bottom-up approach to address the challenges effectively.
As the political tensions and security threats continue to rise, the PDP governors reaffirmed their collective stance on democratic governance, rule of law, and national stability.
