CurrentReport Blog Fans of Enyimba Football Club have voiced strong demands for a complete overhaul of the squad and management following the club’s stunning elimination from the 2024/2025 President Federation Cup. The People’s Elephant fell 2-0 to Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Abakaliki FC, in a shocking Round of 16 upset on Wednesday.
Goals from Chukwudi Okoro and Daniel Eni sealed Enyimba’s fate, marking yet another low in what fans have described as a disappointing and heartbreaking season.
Supporters have not held back in their criticism. Many are calling for a major revamp of the team structure, with some suggesting that seasoned stars be brought in, while others are pushing for fresh, young talent to be discovered and given a chance.
The disappointment is compounded by Enyimba’s early exit from the CAF Confederation Cup and their current 9th-place standing in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), with only 46 points from 33 matches.
Fan voices like Okwuchi Paul and Ejike Agbai have gone further to express dissatisfaction with the club’s management, led by football legend Kanu Nwankwo. A vote of no confidence was passed by these supporters, who demand immediate changes as the team prepares for the next season.
“Now, we are out of every competition this season and that is why we should start planning ahead for the next season,” said an aggrieved Agbai.
With the once-mighty Enyimba now out of all major competitions, the calls for reform grow louder. The 2025/2026 season may prove to be a turning point — if management listens.
