The initiative, approved by Governor Alex Otti, aims to transform the state’s education sector and ensure access to quality learning for all students.
The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Goodluck Ubochi, in Umuahia during the ministry’s reception of Abia State students who excelled in the recently concluded 27th National Junior Engineers, Technicians, and Scientists (JETS) competition held in Abuja.
Governor Otti’s Commitment to Education
Commissioner Ubochi highlighted that free education is a key part of Governor Otti’s strategy to elevate the education sector in Abia State.
“The initiative underscores the government’s dedication to fostering academic excellence and creating opportunities for all students to thrive,” Ubochi stated.
Abia Students Shine at National JETS Competition
The 27th JETS competition showcased the ingenuity and creativity of young minds. Abia State students delivered an outstanding performance, further emphasizing the state’s focus on nurturing talent and innovation.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Kenechukwu Nwosu, and ASUBEB Executive Board Chairman, Mrs. Lydia Onuoha, attributed the students’ success to the state government’s strong investment in education.
In recognition of their achievements, the young scholars were presented with learning equipment, while their teachers received cash rewards as tokens of appreciation.
Teachers’ Union Commends Government Efforts
The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in Abia, Friday Madu, praised the students for their excellent performance and lauded the state government for its continuous support of the education sector.
