CurrentReport Blog The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has suspended its National Chairman, Mamman Mike Osuman, for making unauthorized statements regarding the 2027 presidential election. The suspension was announced in a statement issued on Thursday by the ACF Board of Trustees (BOT) Chairman, Bashir Dalhatu, and Secretary General, Murtala Aliyu.

Osuman reportedly declared during an ACF National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Wednesday that the North would support a northern candidate in the 2027 general elections. However, the ACF leadership has distanced itself from this statement, describing it as Osuman’s personal opinion, made without prior consultation or approval from other ACF members.

“ACF rejects Mr. Mamman Mike Osuman’s statements in their entirety. For this reason, the leadership of the ACF’s BOT and NEC has decided to place Mamman Mike Osuman on suspension with immediate effect,” the statement read.

The ACF emphasized that the comments did not reflect the forum’s collective position and that the decision to suspend Osuman was made to uphold the organization’s principles. A special committee has been constituted to investigate the alleged infractions and provide recommendations for further action.

The ACF, a prominent northern socio-political organization, has reiterated its commitment to unity and maintaining neutrality in political discourse as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections.
