CurrentReport Blog Popular activist and social media personality, Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has rejected an invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) concerning an allegation of corruption against its officials. This comes after VeryDarkMan, in a viral video, played an audio purportedly featuring social media celebrity Bobrisky, who allegedly claimed he was asked to pay N15 million to drop a money laundering charge.
In response to the allegations, the EFCC invited both VeryDarkMan and Bobrisky to its Lagos office to assist in the investigation of the alleged bribery. However, VeryDarkMan, on Wednesday, declared that he would not honor the invitation. He cited concerns about his safety and stated that he does not reside in Lagos. Instead, he urged the anti-graft agency to conduct the investigation at its headquarters in Abuja.
“Before you (EFCC) invite someone like me, do a deep investigation on your officers first. When you get the result from your officers who handled Bobrisky’s file, then you can invite me,” VeryDarkMan said. He further expressed distrust in the EFCC, questioning their handling of Bobrisky’s alleged case and implying that he could be framed if he went to Lagos. “I don’t have N15 million to pay for anything. I don’t have any godfathers anywhere, and I don’t want to be framed,” he added.
Bobrisky, on his part, has denied paying N15 million to have the charges dropped, labeling the audio recording as fake.
