Adamawa Police Arrest Three-Member Robbery Gang in Yola

CurrentReport Blog Police operatives in Adamawa State have successfully apprehended a three-member gang of suspected robbers who had been terrorizing residents of Yola North Local Government Area.

The Adamawa State Police Command disclosed on Thursday, December 5, 2024, that the suspects, identified as Zaiyat Abubakar (29), Hassan Buhari (19), and Suleiman S. Suleiman (27), were notorious members of a criminal group known as the Shilla Boys. The trio had been on the police’s wanted list for several months.

Details of the Robberies

According to the police spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, the suspects were arrested after breaking into a house and a shop in Yola.

“On November 28, 2024, the suspects conspired and broke into the house of one Bapetel Jidda, robbing his family members of their belongings using offensive weapons,” Nguroje stated.

The gang struck again on December 4, 2024, breaking into a shop in the same neighborhood, where they carted away valuable commodities.

Recovered Items

The police reported recovering several stolen items during the operation, including:

  • Television sets
  • Standing fans
  • Stabilisers
  • A deep fridge

The recovered items are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
