CURRENT REPORT BLOG Amnesty International has revealed that 15 individuals who participated in the #EndSARS protests in 2020 remain arbitrarily detained without trial, even after three years. The majority of these protesters are held in Lagos, with some at the Kirikiri Medium Correctional Centre and others at the Ikoyi Medium Security Correctional Centre. The organization accused the authorities of filing false charges, such as theft, arson, possession of illegal firearms, and murder, against these protesters. Amnesty International’s Director of Nigeria, Isa Sanusi, expressed concern over the lack of respect for human rights and due process, demanding the immediate and unconditional release of the detained protesters. Seven #EndSARS protesters are held at Kirikiri, and eight others at Ikoyi since 2020. One detained protester, Daniel Joy-Igbo, described his detention and lack of trial since his arraignment in December 2020.
