CurrentReport Blog In a recent development in Rivers State politics, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has finally addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding Governor Siminalayi Fubara and members of the State House of Assembly.
The APC’s national leadership, through its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, issued a statement in Abuja on Friday, clarifying its stance on the matter.
According to the statement, Governor Fubara stands accused of orchestrating his own impeachment due to alleged missteps.
However, the APC firmly denied any involvement in the calls for Fubara’s impeachment, countering claims made by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the governor’s political affiliation.
One of the focal points of criticism from the APC was Fubara’s assertion that the Rivers State House of Assembly is nonexistent. The party condemned this remark as reckless and a direct violation of the Nigerian Constitution.
Emphasizing the significance of the legislative body, the APC reiterated that the House of Assembly derives its authority from the Constitution and represents the electorate’s will, similar to Fubara’s gubernatorial mandate.
The statement from the APC underscores the escalating tensions within Rivers State politics and highlights the rift between the ruling party and Governor Fubara.
