CURRENT REPORT BLOG The All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate Ibrahim Shittu has won the Saki West State Constituency rerun election held in Oyo State on Saturday.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Julius Okedoyin, as well as the nominees of other major parties, were defeated by Shittu, who was the closest opponent.
The election tribunal’s ruling made the rerun, which was conducted in two voting places, unavoidable.
The tribunal determined that more than 1,000 people were denied the right to vote, with a mere 270 votes separating the victor, Shittu, from the petitioner, Okedoyin.
Shittu was fired, and a new election was mandated for the two voting places.
The Appeal Court affirmed the verdict as well.
Following the rerun, the APC candidate received 13,850 votes, while the PDP candidate received 13,670.
