CurrentReport Blog The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State has issued a stern warning to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) against any attempts to manipulate the upcoming local government elections. The APC made this statement over the weekend during the presentation of its candidates for the election, which is set to take place on Saturday, August 17, 2024.
During the campaign flag-off, Mohammed Hassan Tilde, the acting Chairman of the APC in Bauchi State, expressed concerns over the PDP’s alleged plans to rig the elections. He emphasized that the APC is well-prepared to counter any manipulative efforts by the ruling party, urging BASIEC to maintain neutrality and avoid collaborating with the government to subvert the electoral process.
Tilde also called on APC members, particularly those assigned to monitor electoral activities in various constituencies and polling stations, to be vigilant and protect the party’s votes. He underscored that the APC has fielded candidates for all 20 chairmanship positions and 323 councilorship seats across the state and expressed confidence in the party’s ability to secure victory in all the contested seats.
Senator Shehu Buba Umar, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, echoed Tilde’s sentiments, expressing optimism that the APC would emerge victorious if BASIEC conducts a free, fair, and credible election. He noted that the contest between the ruling party and the opposition is a precursor to the 2027 general elections, signaling the APC’s readiness for the political battle ahead.
As the local government elections draw closer, tensions are high in Bauchi State, with the APC urging all stakeholders to ensure a transparent and credible electoral process.
