CurrentReport Blog The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested 15 suspects following a violent clash between youth groups in the Kandahar area of Bauchi metropolis. The unrest led to the burning of a government primary school and the office of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF).
According to reports, the violence began when a group of youths attacked civilians and set fire to the Civilian JTF office and parts of Kandahar Primary School. During the altercation, one of the attackers, identified as 22-year-old Saidu Musa, sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed to the Specialist Hospital for treatment.
Police Restore Order Amid Ongoing Investigations
The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, revealing that the conflict stemmed from an earlier encounter between the Civilian JTF and a group of youths.
Police Spokesman SP Ahmed Wakili stated:
“On 18 December 2024, at about 08:30 hours, Detectives from ‘A’ Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call about violent behavior in the Kandahar area. A group of youths attacked innocent civilians and targeted the Civilian Joint Task Force office near Kandahar Primary School.”
The situation escalated when the attackers used a locally-made firearm, injuring one of their own during a confrontation with the Civilian JTF. Police operatives promptly intervened, restoring order and arresting 15 suspects linked to the violence.
