Current Report Blog Hazel Oyeze Onou, widely known as Whitemoney, a popular Big Brother Naija star and emerging singer, has shared a revealing story from his past that highlights his strong personal principles. In a candid interview with Echoo Room, Whitemoney recounted a time when he was homeless and living under a bridge in Ojuelegba, Lagos, where he turned down a tempting offer from a wealthy married woman.
During the interview, Whitemoney described his challenging early days in Lagos. While grappling with poverty and striving to learn cosmetology, he found himself living in dire conditions. It was during this period that he encountered a well-to-do woman who offered him a substantial reward for an illicit favor.
“I got a blank cheque from a lady when I was living under Ojuelegba Bridge,” he revealed. “She came into the store where I was learning cosmetology, saw me, and gave me her number. She was incredibly beautiful.”
Their interactions led to a meeting at a hotel, where the woman presented Whitemoney with a blank cheque—a tempting proposal that could have drastically changed his circumstances. However, a crucial piece of information she shared before the encounter made all the difference. “Before she put out the blank cheque, she made a mistake by sending me her family picture. She had about five boys.”
This revelation struck a chord with Whitemoney. Despite his desperate situation, the knowledge of her marital status and family responsibilities made him reconsider. “She was one of those women whose husbands are hardly around. If she had not sent me that picture, maybe I would have slept with her,” he admitted. “But the fact that I knew she was married, I refused. I have a law: I can never sleep with a married woman.”
Whitemoney’s decision to turn down the offer reflects his deep-rooted values, even in the face of adversity. His story is not just about resisting temptation but also about adhering to his moral code. “It is against my principle to sleep with a married woman,” he emphasized, underscoring his commitment to integrity.
