CurrentReport Blog Former lawmaker and businessman Ben Murray Bruce has called on President Bola Tinubu to implement an executive order halting all international travel for Federal government officials, except under special circumstances of critical national interest. In a recent post on his platform, Murray Bruce emphasized the need for such a measure to curb unnecessary expenditures and prioritize national concerns.
Under the proposed executive order, all members of the federal cabinet and civil servants would be subject to the international travel ban, with exemptions granted only for matters deemed essential to the nation’s well-being. However, certain key sectors such as External Affairs, Finance, and National Security would remain unaffected by the restriction.
Murray Bruce further suggested that when international travel is authorized, officials should opt for Nigerian airlines whenever feasible, supporting the domestic aviation industry. Additionally, he recommended leveraging technology by conducting international meetings through platforms like Zoom, reducing the reliance on physical travel and associated costs.
