CurrentReport Blog The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has urged the people of the South East and all Nigerians to continue supporting President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) South East Stakeholders’ meeting in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State’s capital, Kalu emphasized the president’s commitment to the region and the nation at large.
Kalu highlighted several initiatives aimed at repositioning the South East. He mentioned that efforts are underway in the national assembly to create an additional state in the region and to address the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. These actions, he noted, underscore the administration’s dedication to inclusivity and regional development.
“The appointment of numerous individuals from the South East into significant roles is a testament to the APC government’s commitment to inclusivity,” Kalu stated. He praised President Tinubu’s economic reforms, including the unification of the FOREX market and redirecting funds to crucial sectors such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure. These reforms, according to Kalu, have significantly boosted investor confidence, making the Nigerian Stock Exchange one of the top-performing exchanges globally.
Kalu also addressed national security improvements, citing substantial investments that have modernized and equipped security forces. These efforts have resulted in the freeing of over 4,600 hostages, neutralizing more than 9,300 hostiles, and arresting over 7,000 terrorists and bandits.
In his remarks, Kalu expressed gratitude to all who have supported these initiatives, including regional governors, senators, members of the House of Representatives, and the Ohaneze Ndigbo. He called for continued unity and diligence, especially in the upcoming general elections, to solidify the South East as an APC stronghold.
“In addition to these achievements, it is crucial that the South East remains steadfast and does not succumb to calls for revolt against a president who has accomplished so much for our country. We must stand united in support of his visionary leadership,” Kalu urged.
Kalu concluded by emphasizing the need for unity and peace within the party, encouraging the South East to work diligently in the coming elections to make the region a solid APC zone.
